Born in Tuscany, a student of Mathematics at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, he spent his university career in various locations: Rome Tor Vergata, Milan, Pavia, L’Aquila and (currently) Florence. Visiting Professor at numerous foreign universities, including Northwestern University (Chicago), Australian National University (Canberra) and Vanderbilt University (Nashville). Author of more than 100 scientific publications, he was named “sherpa” to represent Italy at G7 level and Carnegie meetings.
